n January 2024, the global economy remained less resilient, impacted by negative shocks such as tightening financing conditions due to restrictive monetary policies and the ongoing war in Ukraine. In an environment of high uncertainty, the balance of risks surrounding projections is tilted downward for global growth and inflationary pressures.
In the commodities market, we observed a decline in copper prices, reflecting the slowdown in the Chinese economy. The Chinese manufacturing PMI index remained stagnant at around 49 points by the end of January 2024. Values below 50 indicate a contraction in industrial and manufacturing activity in China. In contrast to copper, cobalt prices experienced a slight downward trend in January 2024. Additionally, crude oil prices, particularly in the English market, increased mainly due to tensions in the maritime route of the Red Sea. Conversely, gold prices showed a downward trend.
