We are pleased to present the 104th issue of the monthly Congo Challenge (December 2025), an edition marked by sustainably controlled inflation, a relative stability of the Congolese franc, as well as a notable strengthening of foreign exchange reserves, all within an international context characterized by moderate growth and contrasting monetary adjustments.
In this issue, we reflect on the significant events of the month:
- The consolidation of disinflation, with an annual rate around 2.27%, well below the Central Bank of Congo's target of 7%;
- The relative stability of the Congolese franc in the foreign exchange market, combined with a significant increase in international reserves, bringing import coverage to nearly three months;
- Developments in the international context, marked by moderate global growth, divergent inflationary trends, and cautious financial markets at the year's end;
- The contrasting dynamics of strategic commodities, with sustained increases in gold, copper, and cobalt prices, alongside a continued decline in oil prices;
- National economic challenges, including the modernization of foreign trade through the digitization of procedures, the IMF's validation of the second review of the program, as well as issues related to public finances and the structural transformation of the economy;
- Political and security developments, including the signing of the peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda, the security situation in the East of the country, and their economic and social implications.
